Stormclaw Assault Fighter v2.1

Update note

This OPT was released (as version 2) on 7th September 1999; this is a re-release with my old address removed from the readme.

When this model was created, the XWA mod tools had advanced far enough to allow entirely original models. This one is based on a sketch I did while bored in an Art lesson; an earlier version was released for XvT and XWA simultaneously, but this one is a higher-complexity version for XWA only; it was intended as the hero's ship in an XWA shipset called Pax Imperia, but that shipset never happened.

This mod may be copied and distributed non-commercially, as long as due credit is given and it is not modified (in particular, this notice must be preserved). It comes with NO WARRANTY, express or implied, including any implied warranty of "fitness for purpose".

Original documentation (edited)

Stormclaw Assault Fighter

Version: X-Wing Alliance, 7 September 1999

Version notes: Completely rebuilt model with new textures and wings curved in 3 dimensions. High face count, but still less complex than the Corellian Transport. Don't put too many in one mission or it might slow down a bit. Files included:

CRAFT REPORT

Full Name: "Stormclaw" Heavy Assault Fighter
Designation: Assault Fighter (effectively a bomber with lasers instead of a huge warhead load)
Manufacturer: Seyn'dan Industries
In use by: Various
Size: 16 metres
Crew: 1

Performance:
SPEED 90 MGLT SHIELDS 60 SBD
ACCELERATION 15 MGLT/s HULL 20 RU
MANEUVERABILITY 75 DPF CANNONS 4 las., 2 ion cn.
HYPERDRIVE Fitted WARHEADS St. load 8

Comments: Expensive, little-known and difficult to obtain outside its manufacturer's home sector, this fighter is versatile and can be used for just about anything. Some mercenaries and other independents swear by it, but others consider it to be too slow for a fighter and too weak for a bomber.

Pilot Report: Like Incom's T-65 X-Wing, it's a good all-rounder; it can be used in any role, but excels in very few. More biased towards strike missions than the X-Wing, it has ion cannons and good shields. A bit slow for some, but its handling's similar to the X-Wing and far better than the Y-Wing.
